Our Team
Springfield Public Schools’ BASE Project (Business Associated Student Education) is a community-based transitional program for high school students aged 16 and older with an IEP. The program focuses on developing work and life skills to help students successfully navigate life after graduation.
The BASE program provides students with opportunities to develop career awareness, explore different job fields, and build the social skills needed for success in the workplace and beyond. Students gain hands-on experience through unpaid job shadowing while earning high school credits toward graduation.

Powered by the SBC Athletics Community, the Fairbanks Bike Shop is open to the public at The Fairbanks.
The shop’s intent is to help the local Springfield community, specifically in the Grant Beach neighborhood, be able to safely ride more often. The program helps with simple repairs, bike access, and bicycle education, as well as provide adults with transportation assistance. The shop will provide free helmets for children, free or low-cost bike repair, and low-cost sales.
The Fairbanks Bike Shop is powered by volunteers and donations. The Bike Shop needs donations, including, but not limited to: kid and adult-sized bikes, both working and non-working, bike helmets of all sizes, spare and old bike parts, such as tires, tubes, seats, stems, etc., and bike tools, pumps, chain lube, bike washing equipment, and bike locks.
Donations are accepted on-site only during bike shop hours.
Mon-Thurs: 10:00 am - 2:00 pm

"The SBC Athletics Community has been riding in Springfield since 2012. We realized that we wanted to give back to our community. One of our SBC staff and one athletic team member worked at the Fairbanks. Once we heard about the Fairbanks wanting a bike shop – it was a no-brainer", says Neil Chanter, SBC Athletics team owner.
